Import a bookmarks file
Every browser can export its bookmarks as an HTML file, and Sval can import that file. Sval also reads the file Arc’s data export makes, so you can bring your Spaces over without Arc installed.
You moved off a browser Sval doesn’t read, or you no longer have Arc installed but kept its export.
- Open Settings › Workspaces.
- Under Import and export, select Import data.
- Select Import a bookmarks file….
- Choose the HTML file, or Arc’s
Arc Data Export.md. - Optional: under the file’s row, choose where its bookmarks go.
- Select Import.
- When the import finishes, select Done.
Details
Section titled “Details”- The file’s row is checked and open once you choose it. The browser you used last starts checked too. Uncheck it to import only the file.
- To get a bookmarks file, open your other browser’s bookmarks manager and choose Export.
- An HTML file’s bookmarks go Into Favorites unless you choose to put them in a Workspace of their own, or Don’t import.
- From Arc’s export file, each Space arrives as a Workspace with its folders and tabs. The file has no tab titles, colors, emoji, or Splits, so none of those come over.
- When the import page can’t read a browser, its result line offers Import Bookmarks File…, which imports a file straight into Favorites.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Couldn’t read this file. The file isn’t a bookmarks file Sval can read. Export the bookmarks again as HTML.
