Turn on Secure DNS
Secure DNS controls how Sval looks up the sites you visit. Out of the box, Sval uses your network’s DNS. You can have it use an encrypted resolver instead.
You use public Wi-Fi at a café, and you don’t want the network to see which sites you look up.
- Open Settings › Privacy and protection.
- Under Secure DNS, choose Encrypted, with fallback.
- In Choose provider:, choose a resolver.
To use encrypted DNS with no fallback, choose Encrypted only in step 2.
Details
Section titled “Details”- Your network’s DNS works with internal names, VPNs, and router filters. Your network can see the sites you look up.
- Encrypted, with fallback looks sites up through the resolver, and through your network’s DNS when that fails.
- Encrypted only looks sites up only through the resolver. If it can’t be reached, sites don’t load.
- The resolvers are Quad9, which is the default, and Cloudflare. Custom takes the address of another resolver.
- Internal names lists domains that always use your network’s DNS, like names on a home or work network.
- The setting applies to every site and syncs to your other devices.
- Sval contacts only the resolver you choose.
