Group tabs

A group holds tabs, and other groups, under one name in the panel. You can give it a color and an emoji, and fold it away when you don’t need it.

You have six Codeberg issues open for one release, and you want them in one place you can fold away.

  1. At the top of the panel, select New group.
  2. Type a name in Name.
  3. Optional: choose an Emoji and a Color.
  4. Select Create.

The group appears in the Workspace or group you’re working in, after the groups already there and before the tabs.

  1. In the panel, drag one tab’s row onto the middle of another tab’s row.
  2. When the row reads New group, drop it.
  3. In the New group dialog, type a name, then select Create.

The two tabs go into the new group, in the place of the tab you dropped on.

  1. In the panel, select the rows. ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux) adds a row, and Shift-click adds every row in between.
  2. Right-click one of the selected rows, then choose New group with selection.
  3. Type a name, then select Create.
  • To put a tab in a group, drag it onto a folded group’s row, or among an open group’s tabs. You can also right-click it and choose Move to group. With the row focused, Alt+→ moves it into the group above it, and Alt+← moves it out.
  • A group can hold other groups. Drag a group onto another, or use Move to group on it.
  • To make a group inside another, right-click the outer group, then choose New group.
  • Clicking a group’s row folds or unfolds it. A folded group shows how many tabs it holds. While you view one of its tabs, that tab shows under it.
  • To change a group’s name, color, or emoji, right-click it and choose Edit…. Double-clicking its name, or F2, renames it.
  • A group with a color is drawn as a tinted block around its tabs.
  • A group needs a name. Create doesn’t make one with the name empty.
  • Groups sync to your other devices with your Workspaces. Whether a group is folded is kept on each device.
  • A drop on the right end of a tab’s row makes a Split in place of a group. See Show tabs side by side in a Split.
