Open a new Peek window

A new Peek window is a small window that isn’t part of any Workspace. It’s signed in as the Workspace you opened it from. When you close it, nothing is added to your Workspaces.

You’re about to join a video call and don’t want its tab left in your Work Workspace afterward.

  1. Press ⌥⌘N (Ctrl+Alt+N on Windows and Linux).
  2. Type an address or a search in the address bar.

In the menu bar, File › New Peek Window does the same.

  • The Peek uses the sign-ins of the Workspace whose window you opened it from. Opened from a private window, it uses the sign-ins of your shared Workspaces.
  • A new Peek opens where you last closed one, at the same size.
  • Its page stays in History after you close it.
  • To keep the page, open it in a Workspace. See Keep a page from a Peek in a Workspace.
  • A link in the Peek that opens a new tab opens in a Peek of its own.
  • The Launcher lists New Peek Window too.
  • On Windows, a keyboard layout that types a character with Ctrl+Alt+N types that character in place of opening a Peek. Use the Launcher there.
