Add a search engine

You can add any site that searches through its address, and then search it from the address bar or make it your default.

You search Codeberg often and want to reach its search from the address bar.

  1. Open Settings › Search and Launcher.
  2. Under Additional search engines, select Add search engine.
  3. In Search engine name, type a name.
  4. In URL with %s in place of search term, type the search’s address, with %s where the words go.
  5. Optional: in Keyword (optional), type a short word, like cb.
  6. Select Add Engine.

The engine shows in the list under Additional search engines, and in the Default search engine menu.

  • To find the address, search the site for a word, copy the address of the results page, and put %s in place of the word.
  • With a keyword, type the keyword, a space, and your search in the address bar to search that engine once.
  • Advanced shows fields for a site that searches with POST data, and for an address that gives search suggestions.
  • Try including %s in place of the search term. The address has no %s. Put %s where the words you search for go.
  • That keyword is already being used. Try a different one. Another engine has that keyword. Choose another.
