Workspaces
A Workspace holds its own tabs and groups. Each window shows one Workspace at a time, and the controls below are where you make, change, and remove them.
The switcher
Section titled “The switcher”The switcher sits at the top of the panel. It shows the emoji, name, and color of the Workspace the window shows. The Workspace’s color also tints the window, and its emoji and name start the window’s title.
- Isolated shows next to the name when the Workspace keeps its own cookies and sign-ins.
- Selecting the switcher opens the list of Workspaces.
- Right-clicking the switcher opens the Workspace menu for the Workspace the window shows.
The list of Workspaces
Section titled “The list of Workspaces”The list shows every Workspace except the one the window shows.
- A Workspace switches the window to it. Shift-clicking it, or Shift+Enter, opens it in a new window. A Workspace another window already shows brings that window to the front.
- A box next to a name marks an isolated Workspace.
- A media button next to a name shows while a tab in that Workspace has sound or media. Clicking it does what the Workspace menu’s media entry says.
- Agent Workspaces lists the Workspaces that agents work in, after your own.
- New Workspace… opens the New Workspace dialog.
Pointing to a Workspace in the list opens its submenu. Right-clicking it opens the Workspace menu for it.
- Open in new window opens the Workspace in a window of its own. It shows only for a Workspace no window shows.
- The rest of the submenu is the Workspace menu.
The Workspace menu
Section titled “The Workspace menu”- Pause Media pauses the media playing in the Workspace’s tabs, and mutes sound that can’t be paused. It shows only while a tab has media or sound, and reads Play Media, Mute, or Unmute when that’s what it does.
- Edit… opens the Edit Workspace dialog.
- Isolate Workspace… gives the Workspace its own cookies and sign-ins, after you confirm. Every tab in it reloads.
- Stop isolating Workspace… shows in place of Isolate Workspace… for an isolated Workspace. After you confirm, every tab reloads with the sign-ins of your other Workspaces, and Sval deletes the sign-ins and site data kept in this one.
- Delete Workspace… deletes the Workspace and everything in it, after you confirm. It’s dimmed when you have only one Workspace.
In the menu bar, the Workspaces menu lists your Workspaces, then the Workspace menu for the one the window shows.
The New Workspace dialog
Section titled “The New Workspace dialog”- Name is required.
- Emoji opens the emoji picker. A new Workspace starts with a random emoji. No emoji in the picker removes it.
- Color offers Sval Default, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, Purple, Pink, Gray, and Black. The dialog takes on the color you pick, as the window will.
- Isolate this Workspace gives the new Workspace its own cookies and sign-ins. It’s unchecked unless you check it.
- Create makes the Workspace and switches the window to it.
The Edit Workspace dialog
Section titled “The Edit Workspace dialog”The Edit Workspace dialog has the same Name, Emoji, and Color as the New Workspace dialog, starting from the Workspace’s own.
- Archive idle tabs sets how long this Workspace’s tabs can go unused before Sval archives them: Use Default, 12 Hours, 24 Hours, 7 Days, 30 Days, or Never. Use Default follows Settings, and names the time Settings has.
- Save saves your changes.
Agent Workspaces have no Archive idle tabs choice.
Settings › Workspaces › Idle tabs
Section titled “Settings › Workspaces › Idle tabs”- Archive idle tabs moves tabs you haven’t used for a while out of their Workspace and into History, under Archived tabs. It’s off by default.
- After is how long a tab can go unused: 12 Hours, 24 Hours, 7 Days, or 30 Days. It starts at 7 Days.
- Keep archived tabs for is how long History keeps an archived tab: 7, 30, or 90 days. It starts at 30 days.
These settings sync to your other devices. A Workspace’s own choice in the Edit Workspace dialog takes the place of After for that Workspace.
A tab’s menu in the panel
Section titled “A tab’s menu in the panel”- Move to Workspace lists your other Workspaces, then New Workspace…, then any Agent Workspaces. Choosing one moves the tab, group, or selected rows there. Moving into or out of an isolated Workspace asks first, and so does moving into an Agent Workspace.
History › Archived tabs
Section titled “History › Archived tabs”In the History sidebar, View › Archived tabs lists the tabs Sval archived, newest first. Each row shows the page, the Workspace it came from, and when Sval archived it. Selecting a row puts the tab back in its Workspace. A tab you’ve put back stays in the list, dimmed.
