Keep a page from a Peek in a Workspace

When Sval is your default browser, a link you open in another app, like Slack, Mail, or a terminal, opens in a Peek. A Peek is a small window of its own that isn’t part of any Workspace. You read the page and close it, or open it in a Workspace to keep it.

A colleague sends you a Codeberg issue in chat. You read it in the Peek and decide it belongs with your Work tabs.

  1. In the Peek’s toolbar, select the button that names the Workspace, like Open in Work Workspace.

The page moves into that Workspace as a tab at the end of its list, and the Peek closes. If no window shows that Workspace, your frontmost window switches to it.

  1. In the Peek’s toolbar, select the arrow next to the button that names a Workspace.
  2. Choose the Workspace.

To open that Workspace in a new window and leave your other windows as they are, select Open in New Window next to it, or Shift-click it.

  • The button names the Workspace of the window you used last. The arrow lists your other Workspaces, and shows only when you have more than one.
  • When a window already shows the Workspace you choose, the page opens there.
  • Shift-clicking the button that names the Workspace also opens it in a new window when no window shows it.
  • The Peek tag, before the address bar, counts the Peeks you have open. With more than one, select it to switch to another Peek, close one, or select Close all peeks.
  • A link to an installer or another file doesn’t open a Peek. The file goes to your downloads.
  • In a Peek, the Launcher opens your tabs, Settings, Downloads, History, Extensions, and Passwords in your main window.
  • A Peek closes after it goes unused for 6 hours. Its page stays in History. To change the time, or turn Peeks off, see Turn Peeks off or change when they close.
  • A Peek isn’t saved. Quitting Sval closes it, and it doesn’t come back when Sval starts again.
  • Open in Work Workspace? The Workspace you chose is isolated, or the Peek is signed in as another Workspace, so the page reloads with that Workspace’s sign-ins. You might need to sign in again, and the page loses its back history and anything you typed into it. Select Open to go ahead.
  • This page can’t open in Work Workspace. The page would have to load again in that Workspace, and it can’t be loaded that way. It stays in the Peek.
