Extensions
Sval runs Manifest V2 and Manifest V3 extensions from addons.mozilla.org. The controls below install them, turn them on and off, and limit where they run.
The extensions menu
Section titled “The extensions menu”Extensions on the toolbar opens the extensions menu. The button shows a dot when an extension offers a button for the page you’re on, or when the menu has a notice.
Each extension has a row with its name. On a page with a site, an extension that can reach the site also shows:
- What it can do on the site. The row says, for example, “Can read and change pages on” the site, or that it can see the site’s connections, read and change its cookies, or see which of its pages you open. An extension that’s off there “Can’t see or change anything”.
- Run on turns the extension on or off for the site. Turning it off reloads the site’s tabs.
Each row may also show:
- The extension’s page button shows when the extension offers a button for this page, such as a feed reader on a page with a feed. Selecting it does what the extension’s button does.
- Pin to the toolbar puts the extension’s button on the toolbar. It reads Unpin from the toolbar while the button is there. A pinned extension stays in the menu.
On a page whose address has a part before the site’s name, such as app.fastmail.com, a Run on line at the top of the menu chooses what the switches cover: that address alone, or All of fastmail.com.
Private windows don’t show what an extension can do or the Run on switch.
Notices in the extensions menu
Section titled “Notices in the extensions menu”Notices show at the top of the menu, and the extensions button shows a dot until you’ve seen them.
- An extension was added. OK closes the notice. Pin to toolbar pins the extension’s button.
- An extension sees only one Workspace. An extension that hides tabs might not work as expected, because it only sees the tabs in the current Workspace. Remove removes it, and Keep keeps it.
- An extension was turned off. Sval turns off an extension that uses containers. Remove removes it, and OK keeps it turned off.
- A password manager couldn’t be installed. Try Again installs it again.
