Sign in to Kagi

Kagi is a paid search engine, so it needs you signed in to search. Sval signs your normal windows in with your Kagi account. Private windows sign in with Privacy Pass, which shows Kagi you’re a subscriber without saying which one.

You chose Kagi when you set up Sval, but skipped signing in.

  1. Open Settings › Search and Launcher.
  2. On the Kagi card, select Sign in to Kagi.
  3. In the window that opens, sign in to your Kagi account.

The card reads Signed in to Kagi. Under it, a line says how private windows sign in.

Some Kagi plans don’t include Privacy Pass. The card then says private windows are signed out, and shows a Kagi Session Link field.

  1. In Kagi’s settings, copy your Session Link.
  2. On the Kagi card, paste it into Kagi Session Link.
  3. Select Save.

The field’s line reads Saved., and private windows search with your Session Link. A Session Link tells Kagi who you are, so private searches made with it are linked to your account.

  • The Kagi card shows while Kagi is your default search engine.
  • You can also sign in when you first set up Sval. Choose Kagi, then select Sign in to Kagi under it.
  • Each device signs in on its own. Your sign-in, Privacy Pass searches, and Session Link never sync.
  • Each private search spends one Privacy Pass search. The card says how many are left, and when you’ve used this month’s, the date they reset.
  • If you change plans, select Check again to have Sval ask Kagi again whether your plan includes Privacy Pass.
  • To remove a Session Link, select Clear.
  • That’s not a Kagi Session Link. Copy it again from Kagi. The text you pasted isn’t a Session Link. Copy the whole link from Kagi and paste it again.
