Choose how much Sval blocks
Sval blocks ads and trackers with filter lists. The level you choose decides which lists it uses.
A news site you read keeps loading trackers from other companies, and you want Sval to block more of them.
- Open Settings › Privacy and protection.
- Under Ad and tracker blocking, choose a Level.
The line under the levels says what the level does. The change applies the next time a page loads.
Details
Section titled “Details”- Balanced Blocking is the level a new install starts on. It blocks ads and trackers with lists that rarely break sites.
- Strict Blocking adds lists that block more, including trackers in links, social widgets, and scam sites. Some sites might break. It also strips tracking parameters from the addresses you open.
- No Blocking blocks nothing from the lists.
- Custom starts from the lists of the level you were on. You can then switch lists on or off and add your own. See Add a filter list.
- Under a level other than Custom, the card lists the lists in use and who publishes each one. Sval downloads each list from its publisher and keeps it updated.
- The level syncs to your other devices.
- Leaving Custom for another level asks first, because that level’s lists replace your custom set. Lists you added are removed.
- To stop blocking on one site only, turn off its protections. See Turn off protections for a site.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Couldn’t load this list today. The list’s publisher didn’t answer. Sval keeps using the copy it last downloaded.
- Couldn’t load this list. Nothing from it is blocked yet. Sval has never downloaded the list. It tries again on its own.
- A site breaks after you choose Strict Blocking. Turn off protections for that site, or go back to Balanced Blocking.
