Change a keyboard shortcut
Sval lists every shortcut in Settings › Keyboard shortcuts. You can change most of them, and give a shortcut to commands that start with none, like New Workspace.
You make Workspaces often and want a key for New Workspace.
- Open Settings › Keyboard shortcuts.
- Find the command, then select Change next to it.
- Press the keys you want, all at once.
The row shows the new shortcut, and Reset shows next to it.
If another command already has that shortcut, Sval asks whether to use it here instead. Selecting OK takes the shortcut from the other command.
Remove a shortcut
Section titled “Remove a shortcut”- Open Settings › Keyboard shortcuts.
- Next to the command, select Clear.
The row reads None.
Put back the default
Section titled “Put back the default”- To put back one shortcut, select Reset next to it.
- To put back every shortcut, select Reset all shortcuts at the bottom of the list, then confirm.
Details
Section titled “Details”- A row with no Change button has a fixed shortcut, like the keys that move through the panel’s rows.
- To stop without a change, press Escape or Tab, or select Cancel.
- A letter, number, or punctuation mark needs ⌘, ⌥, or ⌃ (Ctrl or Alt) with it. Shift alone isn’t enough, and Backspace can’t be a shortcut.
- Websites can’t take a shortcut you’ve given a Sval command.
- Menus and button tooltips show the shortcut as you set it.
- Shortcuts you change apply on this device only.
- Extensions’ shortcuts are listed at the end. Select Change in the extensions page to change them.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Not a shortcut key shows in the field when Sval can’t use the keys you pressed, like a letter on its own. Press the key again with ⌘, ⌥, or ⌃ (Ctrl or Alt).
