Pin a site
A pin is a site icon in the row at the top of the panel. Its page stays where you left it while you work in other tabs, and you can take it back to its saved page at any time.
You keep Fastmail open all day. You want it one click away, and you want links in your mail to leave your inbox where it is.
Pin the tab you’re on
Section titled “Pin the tab you’re on”- In the panel, right-click the tab, then choose Pin.
The tab leaves the list of tabs and becomes a pin at the end of the row. Its page stays as it was.
To pin it in the Workspace you’re in and no other, choose Pin to This Workspace in place of Pin.
Pin by dragging
Section titled “Pin by dragging”- In the panel, drag the tab’s row up to the pins row.
- Drop it where you want the pin among the others.
When you have no pins yet, the space under the Favorites button reads Drop to pin while you drag.
Go back to the saved page
Section titled “Go back to the saved page”- In the pins row, point to the selected pin.
- Select the refresh button at its end, named “Back to” and the pin’s name.
The button shows only while the pin is off its saved page. You can also right-click the pin and choose Back to saved page.
Details
Section titled “Details”- Selecting a pin shows its page where you left it. It never reloads the saved page on its own.
- A link to a page on another site opens in a Peek over the pin, so the pin stays on its own site. A link from app.fastmail.com to www.fastmail.com stays in the pin, because both are on fastmail.com. ⌘-click (Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux) opens the link in a new tab. You can turn the Peek off in Settings › Links › Links in pages.
- Closing a selected pin, for example with ⌘W (Ctrl+W on Windows and Linux), takes it back to its saved page. The icon stays.
- After a restart, each pin starts at its saved page.
- To save the page the pin shows as its new saved page, right-click it and choose Save current page as this pin.
- Each Workspace has its own page for a pin, which uses that Workspace’s sign-ins. In an isolated Workspace you can be signed in to another account on the same pin.
- If a pin was the last thing you looked at in a Workspace, Sval shows it when you come back to that Workspace or restart.
- ⌘1 to ⌘9 (Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 on Windows, Alt+1 to Alt+9 on Linux) select the first nine pins. Hold ⌘ to see their numbers.
- A pin is a Favorite. It syncs, and you can rename it, move it into a folder, and export it like any Favorite. While it’s pinned, it shows in the pins row and leaves the Favorites menu.
- Only a web page or a file can be pinned. A tab in a Split can’t, until you separate it.
- Private windows and agent Workspaces show no pins.
- The row shows four lines of pins. Past that, the last icon reads “+” and the number of pins it holds. You can change the number of lines in Settings › Workspaces › Pins.
