Let a site use your camera or microphone

When a site asks for your camera or microphone, Sval asks you first. While the site uses them, a button in the address bar shows it and mutes them.

You join a video call on a site you use every week and don’t want to be asked each time.

  1. When the site asks, choose Allow, Always allow, or Block.

Allow gives the site access for now. Always allow saves the permission for the site. Block refuses it.

  1. In the address bar, select the camera or microphone button.

The button shows it’s muted, and the site gets black frames or silence. Select it again to unmute. The site doesn’t ask again.

  • Always allow shows only on a secure page, outside private windows.
  • The site settings menu lists what’s in use under In use now, with Mute or Unmute for each device, and Stop for a shared screen.
  • To change a saved permission, open the site settings menu. Under Permissions, choose a new answer next to Use the camera or Use the microphone, or select the × to clear it. The tab reloads when you close the menu.
  • To block every site from asking, open Settings › Sites and set Camera or Microphone to Block under Defaults.
